Donald Trump has paid tribute to Tiger Woods’ mother Kultida, who has passed away at the age of 80.

Former world No.1 Woods announced the news on his social media platforms earlier today, describing his mum as “a force of nature all her own”.

“She was my biggest fan, greatest supporter, without her none of my personal achievements would have been possible,” added the 15-time major champion.

In a post of his own, President Trump – who awarded Woods the USA’s highest civilian honour, the Presidential Medal of Freedom, during his first term in office – paid his respects.

“I was just informed that Tiger Woods’ wonderful Mother, Kultida, passed away,” wrote Trump. “She has gone onto greener fairways!

“Kultida Woods was an amazing influence on Tiger, and gave him much of his strength and brilliance. Melania and I send our love and prayers to Tiger and his incredible family.”

Others to have shared their condolences include Justin Timberlake, Mark Wahlberg, and Woods’ fellow major champion Rich Beem.

Kultida was in attendance for Tiger’s second TGL match in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida, just over a week ago.

During his acceptance speech for the 2024 Bob Jones Award, Woods praised his mother’s influence on his career.

“My mom doesn’t get enough credit,” he said. “Everyone thought it was my dad when I went on the road, which it was, but mom was at home.

“If you don’t know, mom has been there my entire life. She’s always been there through thick and thin.

“This award, I accept it in humbleness and just unbelievable regard for the past recipients, but I also accept it for my mommy, too. She has allowed me to get here.

“She allowed me to do these things, chase my dreams, and the support and love – I didn’t do this alone. I had the greatest rock that any child could possibly have: my mom. Thank you, Mommy.”
