As rumours swirl about Jon Rahm’s future, there is concern about what his next move could mean for those in charge of his current circuit.
The Masters champion has been heavily linked with a switch from the US circuit to LIV Golf in what would be a huge coup for the Saudi-backed league.
bunkered.co.uk reported last week that Rahm is understood to have been “in negotiations” with LIV over a proposed move that would also deal a significant blow to the PGA Tour.

The circuit’s commissioner Jay Monahan is already facing huge pressure to build trust back from his membership after blindsiding players with the top-secret framework agreement with the Saudi Public Investment bankrolling the LIV series.
It remains unclear whether Rahm will indeed swap the PGA Tour for LIV, but Eddie Pepperell has speculated about the implications for those in the sport’s corridors of power.
The outspoken DP World Tour pro also strongly rejected the idea that it “would be impossible” for the Spaniard to turn down the lucrative package offered up by LIV bosses.
“This idea that ‘everybody has a price’ is nonsense, and untrue,” he wrote on X, agreeing with golf analyst Brandel Chamblee.

“It demotes human beings in terms of their capacity to have principles and stick to them. That being said, Rahm seems a loyal guy so if he goes, it spells trouble for the PGAT leadership, and probably rightly so.”
Pepperell, meanwhile, is becoming increasingly disillusioned with the amount of cash engulfing his sport.
When one fan pointed out that it would be no surprise if Rahm leaves because golf is played for financial rewards, Pepperell replied: ‘For the most part that probably true, but it’s on the margin where things count, particularly at times like this.
“Jon has a choice and it will be what it will be, frankly I’m beyond caring and that’s probably to your point about professional golf becoming consumed by money.”
