Former Ryder Cup captain Sit Nick Faldo has become the latest golf personality to speak out about Tiger Woods’ self-imposed break from golf.

The six-time major champion, who battled problems in his own family life during a 30-year career, said only by getting back onto the golf course can Woods deflect the intense speculation surrounding him.

“He needs to get back on the course and start playing because that will be his saviour,” said Faldo.

“There’s still two months until the Masters and I would have thought that would be a good place to sneak in early.”

Several senior golf figures have now urged the world No.1 to return to the game, fuelling speculation that we may see him playing professional golf within the next month.

Phil Mickelson called for a Woods comeback, saying: “The game of golf needs him,” while legend Jack Nicklaus said Woods may not be able to break his record of 18 majors if he does not play this year.

Just last week Tom Watson warned that while he would be happy to see Woods return he must “show some humility” by paying back the respect that people in the game have shown him.
