Golf fans are all saying the same thing about the Creator Classic

Social media stars got a taste of the PGA Tour last night, as the inaugural Creator Classic took place at East Lake.

The Tour Championship venue hosted 16 personalities from YouTube and beyond, including Fat Perez of Bob Does Sports, Paige Spiranac and Garrett Clark of Good Good Golf.

Former PGA Tour Canada winner Luke Kwon came out on top after a final hole play-off at the famous Atlanta track.

And for the most part, it went down well. At least according to fans on social media.

The event – which was streamed on ESPN+ and Peacock – peaked at 110,000 viewers on YouTube, much to the delight of Tour commissioner Jay Monahan.

“The response from fans and from the content creators themselves has been overwhelming,” he said afterwards.

Anyway, here’s what the fans had to say…

An X user (@papalow42) posted: “The creator classic was awesome. So much fun to watch those guys play. Having Joel Dahmen out there was a pleasant surprise as well! Great job all around! I hope this catches on and we get to see more of them!”

Joe Barron (@JoeyChrysler) said: “Creator Classic. Just an absolutely elite idea. Talk about growing the game of golf!!”

Another user (@MrMattGolfs) said: “This Creator Classic with the content creators is dope. Big ups to PGA Tour for this.”

A big fan of the event was @perry_pga, who added: “I tuned in a little late, but I am all in on the creator classic. I think another prime option would be at the Players (pga tour ran event). No need to oversaturate, but I think a couple of these each year would be an awesome add.”

Meanwhile, the players themselves were quick to hop online and share their thoughts.

Roger Steele, one of the defeated play-off hopefuls, lead the way. He wrote on X: “For me: It was one of the most fun events I’ve ever played in.”
