It’s fair to say Donald Trump rates his own golf swing, but what about a PGA Pro?
Well, Paul Elvin, founder of The London Golf Performance Academy, has analysed Trump’s swing – and he’s impressed.
So much so that he reckons the 47th US President is in the ‘top 5%’ of amateur golfers aged 75 and above.
After comparing videos of Trump’s swing from 2018 to 2024, Elvin told Action Network that the claim is based on how far he hits the ball.
“I would certainly put him in the top 5% of amateur golfers aged 75 and above, perhaps even better,” Elvin said.
“Having experience in coaching players of this age group, you will tend to notice a lack of speed and a shorter swing which Trump certainly has no signs of.

“He would be difficult to beat because he would likely hit it much further than people of a similar age.”
Of course, Trump has made no secret of how he’d beat former President Joe Biden, with reports suggesting he plays off a handicap as low as three.
Fans were split by his game when appearing on Bryson DeChambeau’s ‘Break 50’ series in July.
The US Open champ teed it up with Trump at his Bedminster golf course and they combined for a round of 50 over 18 holes.
The highlight was a solo birdie for the 78-year-old on the closing par-4.
“He rotates well through impact and generates a good amount of power in transition,” Elvin learned from the video.

“It might look unusual on the eye because his backswing is flatter than Bryson and many other tour players, but he re-routes back onto plane in the downswing and rotates well with a stable release.
“It is a credit to Trump that his swing hasn’t changed, he’s very flexible for his age and does well to deliver the club as well as he does.
But, while Elvin backs Trump’s game, that doesn’t mean he could compete on the senior circuit.
“Well, we have to remember we are now talking about professional golfers, past major champions, and former world number 1s,” he added.
“He would not be able to compete at this level on a senior’s tour.
“This isn’t to say he isn’t a fantastic player for his age, but more to say that the senior tour players are exceptional golfers and will regularly shoot under par around the world’s toughest courses.”
