- Golphinforkids plan to expand into the USA and China
- Will be exhibiting at the PGA Merchandise Show in Orlando
- “We have taken the decision to try to transform the game”
Having won the HSBC ‘Golf Innovation of the Year’ award for 2015, golphinforkids is now targeting expansion into the world’s two biggest golf markets: the USA and China.
Calum Macpherson, the founder of the Scottish-based junior golf equipment brand, has told bunkered.co.uk that breaking into new territories is the next logical step for his company, which has been a spectacular success since it launched at the 2014 Scottish Golf Show.
“It’s important that we use the platform that the HSBC Golf Innovation of the Year has given us and use it to boost our business,” said Macpherson. “We will be exhibiting at the PGA Merchandise Show in Orlando in January, where we will be taking a large stand of approximately 400sq/ft, whilst we have also been working closely with the China Golf Association on developing an exciting schools programme.”

Macpherson, who hailed this as ‘a very excited time for Golphin Ltd’, added: “We recognise the importance of getting children playing the game and, just as importantly, playing it with the proper equipment. They are, after all, the future of the game.
“Rather than rest our laurels, we have taken the decision to try to transform the game. We see it as our community responsibility, if you like, and we are full committed to doing all we can to help, support and develop the next generation of golfers.”

Golphinforkids fought off competition from over 100 other products and developments to snare the prestigious HSBC Golf Innovation of the Year award, with Macpherson collecting the award in person at the end of the HSBC Golf Business Forum in China.
“It was a fantastic event to attend, with lots of great speakers and some interesting ideas for golf’s future,” he added. “I think there’s a recognition within the industry that the game we play needs to become more entertaining and more fun.
“Hopefully, our golf clubs will help to play their part in that process going forward.”
