Only seven players from the LIV Golf league are representing their country in the Olympics this week.
For Spain, Jon Rahm and David Puig hold medal hopes, whilst Adrian Meronk – Poland – is the only other European at Le Golf National in Paris.
Abraham Ancer and Carlos Ortiz form the Mexican pair fighting for gold, as Joaquin Niemann and Mito Pereira are in the contest for Chile.
Despite travelling in their limited number, several of them voiced concerns over the qualification criteria in the buildup to the quadrennial event.
Rahm, on the back of his first win on the Saudi-backed circuit, said countries should be allowed to pick the players they send to the Olympics.
Meanwhile, Ortiz sounded off at the ‘unfair’ lack of LIV golfers being afforded the chance to compete.
But as the seven-strong charge mount their medal bids, Greg Norman – the league’s CEO – has sent a message of support.

The Australian is taking in the action on the grounds at the former Ryder Cup venue and posted a selfie on Instagram, wishing his clients the best.
“Out supporting LIV Golf players,” he wrote, with tags to their accounts before signing off: “Bring home the medals boys!!”
It appears that Norman isn’t cheering home either Jason Day or Min Woo Lee, whilst Cam Smith, Matt Jones, Lucas Herbert and Marc Leishman sit out.
Clearly, fans hoped he was out watching the PGA Tour pair.
“Business over country,” one user hit back. Another wrote: “Let’s not beat around the bush, you’re secretly following Jason Day and Min Woo Lee.”
One user even asked: “Why don’t you support the Aussies mate? Get over it, isn’t it your country?”
Last month’s Open champion Xander Schauffele leads at the halfway stage, with Hideki Matsuyama, Tommy Fleetwood and Thomas Detry close behind.
Of the LIV septuple, Rahm and Ortiz sit inside the top ten, whilst Niemann and Puig are just off that pace.
