Has Greg Norman leaked a new LIV event?

LIV Golf has unveiled its schedule for 2025, but there could be yet another new event on the horizon.

The Saudi-backed startup will visit South Korea for the first time next year, as Jack Nicklaus Golf Club Korea plays host in May.

It’ll be the fifth event of LIV’s season after stops in Riyadh, Hong Kong, Adelaide and Singapore and is one of two additions to the calendar.

LIV Golf Indianapolis has also replaced the Greenbrier event in August, that was held at The Greenbrier in West Virginia.

“Bringing LIV Golf to South Korea is another significant milestone as we continue to expand throughout Asia, and our inaugural event in Indy will be a perfect match for a community steeped in sports history and tradition,” commissioner Greg Norman said.

But it appears that LIV might continue to branch out in Asia, with the introduction of an event in Japan in 2026.

Norman, 69, posted a cryptic message on Instagram, thanking Yutaka Morohoshi, the chairman of the Japan Golf Tour.

It was accompanied by pictures of the Aussie meeting with representatives of the Japanese body, as well as the Korean Tour.

One picture included a note behind Norman that read: “LIV Golf Japan.

“Opportunity to launch LIV Golf in Japan starting in 2026, either as a regular season event or season-ending LIV Golf Team Championship.”

LIV Golf’s team finale was staged at Maridoe Golf Club in Dallas, Texas, this year but the 2025 site is yet to be confirmed.

However, the Dallas event has been pushed forward to June, leaving the door open for a new host of the Team Championship.

“The podium of world golf = [America, South Korea, Japan],” Norman wrote.

“Playing, designing golf courses and promoting the game globally has been and is an honour – now I’m grateful to be working in expanding LIV into the podium of golf.

“And to think 22 of the top 50 women golfers are from [Japan, South Korea]!

“Thank you Japan Golf Tour chairman Morohoshi san (a friend for 30+ years), KPGA Incheon Mayor Yoo Jeong-bog, Jack Nicklaus Golf Club Incheon for the past few days.”
