The Tiger Woods-hosted Hero World Challenge will bring many of the top players’ seasons to an end in the Bahamas.

But the 15-time major champion won’t be in the 20-man lineup at Albany Golf Course, as he confirmed a fresh setback last week.

Woods, 48, told reporters at Royal Troon in July that his next start would be here this week, but he has not been able to recover in time from his latest bout of surgery.

Instead, world No.1 Scottie Scheffler will headline the field and defend his title.

He is one of eight members of the 2024 US Presidents Cup team in action at the Hero World Challenge, while eight players will make their debut in the event.

Robert MacIntyre is among them, with Aaron Rai the only other British player in the field. Ludvig Aberg is another notable debutant as he ramps up his return from injury.

The tournament is part of the PGA Tour schedule but does not award FedEx Cup points or official money.
