Ian Poulter has revealed the early extent of damage Hurricane Milton has caused near his Florida home.
A state of emergency was declared ahead of the hurricane – one of the most powerful storms to form over the Atlantic in recent years.
With winds of up to 145mph, Milton made landfall late Wednesday night and into Thursday morning.
According to poweroutage.us, the hurricane knocked out power for more than three million homes and businesses in Florida last night.
Poulter, 48, was one of those affected by the outage, as the Englishman shared pictures of ‘huge flooding’ around his home in Lake Nona.

“Hurricane Milton very outer bands dropping some huge flooding,” he wrote in an Instagram story. “The eye of the storm will be here in 14 hours time.”
He said: “That’s about two foot deep in the middle there and that goes out into the bunker and out into Lake Nona.”

The flooding had already written off Lake Nona Golf and Country Club, and its 18-hole championship course, which is within throwing distance of Poulter’s property.
“If anyone wants to play the 18th at Lake Nona you’re going to need a boat,” he captioned another picture.

Poulter had to deal with a small leak through the roof of his house but said it would be “a huge result if this is all we have.”
Meanwhile, Rory McIlroy’s mansion and Shane Lowry’s Florida residence are both in weather alert areas.
Milton, which built into a category five hurricane, continues to sweep across the Sunshine State, with further damage expected despite dropping to category one.

And weeks after Hurricane Helene destroyed one of his family homes, former major champion John Daly says he has evacuated Tampa.
“Here we go again,” the 58-year-old wrote on Instagram. “Sending prayers for all of us who have family, friends & neighbors that are threatened today by #Milton.
“I cannot believe this is happening again – everyone please be safe! #weevacuated #prayforflorida.”
LPGA Q-School, set to take place at Plantation Golf and Country Club this week, has also been postponed.
