A new and unheralded name was etched onto the Stonehaven Cup on Sunday.

Ryggs Johnston, the world No. 954, made his breakthrough on the DP World Tour in the most improbable fashion.

The 24-year-old American started the final round tied with LIV Golf’s Lucas Herbert but prevailed by two at Kingston Heath to win the ISPS Handa Australian Open.

Not only was it his first title on tour, but also Johnston’s first in a four round event since he played college golf.

It moved Johnston up to 316th in the Official World Golf Rankings, earned him just over $200k and secured him a place in the 2025 Open.

Curtis Luck and Marc Leishman won the other two Open spots via the Open Qualifying Series.

Here’s how much they – and the rest of the field – earned in Melbourne.
