The Englishman lost in a play-off to South African Dylan Naidoo last week, who said he ‘felt like Tiger Woods’ after winning on home soil.

And his compatriots will get a chance to repeat the heroics, as Houghton GC, in Johannesburg, plays host to this week’s event.

The second of back-to-back tournaments in South Africa was founded in 2007 and previously awarded a spot in the Open until 2017.

It wasn’t part of the DP World Tour’s annual schedule last year, so LIV Golf’s Dean Burmester remains the defending champion after winning the most recent renewal in 2023.
