Two-time major champion John Daly has thanked Donald ‘Daddy’ Trump for getting involved in PGA Tour-PIF talks.
The US President met with PGA Tour commissioner Jay Monahan last month, as the two sides look to reunify the men’s professional game.
At The PLAYERS last week, Monahan said negotiations have been “bolstered” by Trump’s association, while his involvement makes peace prospects “very real”.
And Daly is clearly of the same opinion.
“I just want Jay [Monahan], and thank God that Daddy Trump is getting involved, because I want it to work out,” he said on the Newsmax show ‘Rob Schmitt Live’ at the weekend.
“Because I have friends on the PGA Tour and the LIV Tour, and I want them all to just play. The best players need to play.”

Daly, who is set to get his Champions Tour season underway, also said he has no issues with players playing on both circuits.
Last month, Adam Scott explained that he would ‘understand bitterness’ from PGA Tour players if LIV pros could return, but Daly doesn’t see it that way.
“We’re obligated, we have to play in 15 events a year, on the PGA Tour,” Daly said. “Our Champions tour is a little less, but to keep our insurance and to keep our 401Ks, our retirement plans going.
“But you know, hey, if those guys want to go to LIV and they’re going to pay them a lot of money, you’re going to play 29 tournaments because you have to play 15 on our tour, and you got to play 14 on theirs. That’s the end of the solution. Let’s go play golf.
“Golf’s a global game and everybody should have the opportunity to play. You’re born, you live, and what is it for? To make sure you take care of your family.
“LIV Golf is taking care of some people’s families, and that’s the way I look at it.”

Meanwhile, Trump isn’t spending all of his time in the boardroom discussing the PGA Tour’s future. In fact, he’s been out on the course, too.
The 78-year-old claimed on Sunday that he won the club championship at Trump International Golf Club, in Florida.
“I just won the Golf Club Championship, probably my last, at Trump International Golf Club, in Palm Beach County, Florida,” he wrote on X.
“Such a great honour! The Awards dinner is tonight, at the Club. I want to thank the wonderful Golf Staff, and all of the many fantastic golfers that participated in the even [sic]. Such fun!”
