Two-time major champion John Daly has named what he believes to be Scotland’s best golf course.
And, put it this way, you won’t be surprised.
The 58-year-old withdrew from last week’s Open before the second round at Royal Troon, carrying a significant knee injury that ruled him out of action.
He shared more details of a ‘damaged joint’ on social media which forced him to leave the south Ayrshire venue. Any consolation would be that it’s not his favourite track.
Neither is it the Old Course at St Andrews, the home of the game where Daly lifted the Claret Jug in 1995.

Rather, it’s one of two golf properties owned by the American’s good friend and former President of the United States, Donald Trump.
Daly is set to tee it up in the Staysure PGA Seniors Championship at Trump International next week, but paid Turnberry a visit, declaring it Scotland’s finest.
The video message was posted by Larry Glick – the Executive Vice President of Development at The Trump Organization.

“Went out and tried to play a little bit, this place is amazing,” Daly said. “It is the best golf course in Scotland, I think.
“St Andrews is my baby, but I think I just found my new baby. We’ve got the 18th green right here; this thing is unreal.
“I want to thank Mr. Trump and all the staff here for all the great service they gave us.”

The Ailsa course is a four-time host of golf’s oldest major championship but was struck from the R&A’s rota in 2021, following the US Capitol riots.
At the start of July, general manager Nic Oldham urged the governing body to reconsider its position and invite the acclaimed course back into the mix.
Daly has long been a vocal supporter of Trump, endorsing him for president when he was a candidate in 2016 and again in 2020.
Trump, meanwhile, is set to feature on an episode of Bryson DeChambeau’s ‘Break 50’ YouTube series.
