Jon Rahm faces a race against time to be fit for this week’s US Open.
The Spaniard, a winner of the championship in 2021, was forced to withdraw from LIV Golf Houston on Saturday after just six holes due to an infection in his left foot.
He could be seen visibly limping during his first round on Friday.
Rahm, who joined the Saudi-funded league in a reported $450million deal in December, now faces an anxious wait to see if he will be fit to take his place in the field for the third men’s major of the year.
The 29-year-old is currently scheduled to hold a pre-championship press conference at Pinehurst Country Club on Tuesday.

Rahm has had a disappointing 2024 to date.
He could do no better than tie for 45th on his Masters defence in April before missing the cut at the PGA Championship at Valhalla last month – the first time he failed to advance to the weekend of a major in five years.
He has also been unable to win an individual title on LIV in eight attempts so far, although he is currently second on the year-long individual standings with his team, Legion XIII, also second amongst the 13 teams.
Despite that, he still has the bookies running scared and, at the time of writing, is priced at 20/1 to win his second US Open title.
