As things stand, Jon Rahm only has three players on his LIV Golf team.

Rahm’s Ryder Cup teammate Tyrrell Hatton and young American talent Caleb Surrat make up the Legion XII team, created by the Spaniard when he jumped ship for the Saudi-backed breakaway league last year.

But Kieran Vincent, the fourth member of the team, was relegated in 2024 and won’t be welcomed back to Rahm’s side even if he earns his way back through LIV’s ‘Promotions’ event in December.

Captain Rahm, therefore, has been weighing up his options.

In a sit-down interview with Golf Sin Etiquetas, Rahm said there were several players he was targeting ahead of the 2025 season.

“I still don’t have a player who’s already signed but we have six or seven in mind,” he said on the interview, which was in Spanish.

Intriguingly, Rahm revealed that one of the players is in the field this week as he returns to the DP World Tour for the Andalucia Masters. He also suggested he would prefer his new signing to be a Callaway staff player because he wants to ‘encourage’ the brand to link up with Legion XIII.

It would not be too much of a leap to suggest, then, that Angel Hidalgo, his fellow Spaniard who defeated him in a playoff at the Open de Espana last month, could be among the targets.

Hidalgo played alongside Rahm in the opening two rounds at the Real Club de Golf Sotogrande. Other Spaniards with Callaway deals on the DP World Tour include Adri Arnaus, Jorge Campillo and Pablo Larrazabal.

Rahm, meanwhile, is joined by fellow LIV compatriots David Puig and Eugenio Chacarra in Andalucia this week. The two-time major champion’s appearance is the fourth counting event of his DP World Tour season, which keeps him eligible for next year’s Ryder Cup.
