It’s the most highly-anticipated golf film since… well, ever.

And now we know the names of a few more PGA Tour stars and legends who will swap their tour cards for cue cards in Happy Gilmore 2.

John Daly is terrible at keeping secrets, and he’s already dropped hints about his appearance in the upcoming blockbuster, while Rory McIlroy is expected to be involved after his manager was overheard speaking about it at Wentworth during the BMW PGA Championship.

Now, though, we have a whole host of names thanks to a rather unlikely source.

Step forward, Jordan Spieth.

The three-time major champion was a guest on Sirius XM PGA Tour Radio with Colt Knost and Drew Stoltz on Tuesday when he started reeling off the cast list.

“When I was up there it was like Lee [Trevino], Jack [Nicklaus], Freddie [Couples], Corey [Pavin],” Spieth explained. “In our scene next to me was Rickie [Fowler], Collin [Morikawa], Xander [Schauffele] and Keegan [Bradley].”

And is it a speaking part?

“If they use it, yes,” he added.

“It was really fun. It was super cool to see. There’s a lot of other guys that were there before and after that have bigger parts. But it was wildly entertaining. I’m interested to see what comes out of it.

“I’m not actually sure how much I’m allowed to say, to be honest, but I was such a fan. Weren’t we all growing up? People who don’t know golf are like, ‘Oh, have you ever seen Happy Gilmore?’ And [if] we get the opportunity I’m going to go and try and be in it.”

As for the man who played the eponymous hero, Spieth said Adam Sandler “was just exactly what everyone says about him”.

He added: “I mean, the nicest guy, the funniest guy, just comes natural to him, and he’s so involved, he’s so appreciative.

“It really was a cool experience.”

Spieth also said Morikawa and Schauffele “had to have stunt doubles”, so quite what Sandler and director Kyle Newacheck have in store for the major champs will be a fun surprise.

And, honestly, we can’t wait.
