After retiring at the end of the 2024 season, Lexi Thompson has confirmed that she will return to the LPGA Tour next week.

Thompson, 29, made the bombshell announcement in May last year, calling time on a decorated career and stepping away from full-time golf.

But, only a few months later, the Floridian hinted that she would still tee it up on the tour in which she made her debut on as a 12-year-old in 2007.

And Thompson will return to the LPGA in her home state at The Founders Cup, which will be held from February 6-9 at Bradenton Country Club.

It is the Tour’s second event of the 2025 season and Thompson qualified by finishing 50th in last season’s CME points list.

Thompson, who tied for 16th in The Founders Cup last year, has not unveiled her schedule plans beyond the event, but it’s likely she’ll contest the first major of the year.

She is exempt into The Chevron as a past champion and admitted in November that it was on her radar.

“Yeah, it would probably be one of the ones I have circled on my calendar,” she said.

“Even though it’s a different venue and sponsor now, it’s still a memory that I’ll cherish for the rest of my life getting my first major win at that event.

“It’s very special to me. Will be one of the ones that I definitely think about playing for sure.”

Meanwhile, Thompson isn’t the only former professional ready to make a comeback at The Founders Cup next week.

She will be joined in the field by two-time major champion Brittany Lincicome, 39, who has been granted a sponsor exemption.

Lincicome won eight times on the LPGA Tour and will tee it up in the $2 million event after announcing her departure from the game in November.
