LIV Golf has crowned the winner of its Promotions event in Saudi Arabia and, subsequently, confirmed a new signing.

Riyadh Golf Club staged the annual shootout and after some big names were knocked out along the way, it came down to Saturday’s 36-hole final round.

Just 20 players were left in the hunt for the sole spot in next year’s roster, but it went the way of Lee Chieh-po.

The 30-year-old is the world No. 223 and claimed his maiden title on the Asian Tour in October at International Series Thailand.

“I played very good this year and I just came to this event to do my best,” he said.

“Actually, last week I didn’t play well, but I just told myself to stay calm, stay focused and focus on every shot. I’m really lucky today and I just want to thank everyone.

Lee will now become the first Taiwanese player to tee it up on the Saudi-backed circuit, which he says “means everything” to him.

“[I’ve been] playing on the Asian Tour for many years and I think LIV Golf is every player’s goal and target. I really hope more Asian Tour players can go to LIV.

“It’s the top players in the world and I think next year I will learn a lot.”

He opened with a seven-under-par 64 in the morning before firing a three-under-par 68 in the afternoon to claim the spoils.

It saw Lee prevail by two shots from Branden Grace and Taichi Kho, who tied on eight-under-par.

As well as the title and coveted LIV spot, Lee banked a cool $200,000, while Grace and Kho walked away with $125,000.

The trio in a tie for fourth – Ollie Schniederjans, Jack Buchanan and Brett Coletta – earned $56,667.

Meanwhile, the top ten and ties at the Promotions event earned full exemption for the 2025 International Series on the Asian Tour.

Coletta, Schniederjans, Buchanan, Max Rottluff, Scott Vincent, David Horsey, Suteepat Prateeptienchai, Soomin Lee and Scott Vincent rounded out the top ten.
