Eugenio Chacarra has been told to “place the blame looking in the mirror” following his explosive comments about the LIV Golf League.

Chacarra won in LIV’s inaugural season but was not retained by Sergio Garcia’s Fireballs GC team for 2025 after his three-year deal with the Saudi-backed league expired.

The young Spaniard caused a huge stir last week when he tore into his now former domain over ‘broken promises’ and expressed his dismay that he is now to serve a one-year PGA Tour suspension without having played on the American circuit.

“I see what it’s like to win on the PGA Tour and how your life changes. How you get major access and ranking points,” Chacarra told Flushing It. “On LIV, nothing changes, there is only money. It doesn’t matter if you finish thirtieth or first, only money.”

These controversial comments have certainly not gone down well in LIV circles.

Jerry Foltz, the commentator for the league, believes Chacarra needs was snubbed by LIV teams because of his character.

“I’ll try to temper [my reaction] as best I can because those comments rubbed me  – and everybody else associated with LIV – the wrong way,” he said on the Fairway to Heaven podcast.

“There’s a lot of it that simply isn’t true but be that as it may he didn’t finish in the top 24 in the Lock Zone. There’s a reason why we didn’t talk about him very much it’s because he didn’t play very well over the last two years. Secondly, he was still within the Open Zone but none of the teams wanted him.

“Instead of placing blame on on the league, place blame looking in the mirror.  There’s a reason why they didn’t want him and that’s because of the character he has displayed over two-and-a-half seasons with LIV.

“That basically says it all in a nutshell.”
