Sergio Garcia provided his latest compelling case for a remarkable Ryder Cup comeback as he claimed a lucrative victory at LIV Golf Hong Kong.
The Spaniard stormed to the title at Hong Kong Golf Club, beating South Africa’s Dean Burmester by three shots after a sublime final round 63 in Fanling.
A resurgent Phil Mickelson posted his best LIV finish, a shot behind Burmester in solo third.
Garcia, meanwhile, revealed in his post-match interview he had been in contact with European skipper Luke Donald as he targets a spot at Bethpage Black.
“I think he’s watching,” said Garcia. “We’ve been in touch, so I know that he’s keeping an eye. The only thing I can do is keep playing good golf.”

Garcia’s Fireballs also claimed the team prize from Burmester’s Stinger GC, meaning a huge prize payout became even bigger for the former Masters champion.
Meanwhile, Dustin Johnson’s struggles continues as he finished last in Hong Kong.
