Former US Open champion Wyndham Clark has been accused of destroying several lockers in a fit of rage at Oakmont.

No Laying Up’s Tron Carter has shared an image of the damage purportedly inflicted by Clark this week in the famed Pittsburgh venue’s locker room.

Clark had missed the cut by just one shot on Friday with a +8 aggregate score.

Carter wrote: “Multiple sources confirming that the Blow Pig really got after it in the Oakmont locker room.

“Super classy, desecrating one of the most historic spots in golf AND on the heels of his behavior at Quail Hollow. Probably time to put him in the cooler for a few months.”

For context, ‘Blow Pig’ is referring to Clark (Wind Ham).

The report is yet to be confirmed by other sources but it does appear that Clark’s bag is in the image shared by Carter.

And the post has inevitably caused a social media pile-on, with many suggesting Clark should face a hefty punishment if this is indeed what transpired.

Graeme McDowell, however, suggested this was a minor offence compared to what he has seen from notable players in the locker room.

“This is minimal [in] regards [to] what I’ve seen other players do,” McDowell, the 2010 champion,  wrote on X.

“Players you would never expect. Oakmont will test any players mental fortitude. Seen it in person.”

Clark, meanwhile, has struggled to live up to the form that saw him win this tournament two years ago.

At the PGA Championship last month, the American apologised after he was seen smashing his driver through an advertising board.

In a statement, he wrote: “As professionals, we are expected to remain professional even when frustrated and I unfortunately let my emotions get the better of me.

“My actions were uncalled for and completely inappropriate, making it clear that I have things that I need to work on.”
