A trailblazing icon of the caddie world will make a surprise return this week.
Fanny Sunesson, who became the first female to caddie for a men’s major winner in her legendary stint with Sir Nick Faldo, will be back carrying the bag on the LIV Golf circuit in Texas.
Sunsesson retired from full-time caddie duties back in 2012 as she pursued opportunities in coaching and commentating after a back injury.
It ended a career that saw her loop in over 750 tournaments, 90 of which were majors.
She was alongside Faldo for four of his six major wins, and also had a notable stint with Henrik Stenson from 2006 until 2011, winning The Players alongside her fellow Swede.

And it is Stenson who has convinced Sunesson to return for a brief return inside the ropes.
According to LIV Golf, Stenson’s regular caddie Marcus Stenson is involved in organising the Stenson Sunesson challenge, a junior event recognising the pair in Sweden.
It means that Sunsesson will take Stenson’s bag for not only this week at Maridoe Golf Club for LIV Golf Dallas, but also the Open at Royal Portrush next month.
“I’m a rookie again, right?” Sunesson told LIV. “It’s a new place and a new tour. It’s nice to be back with Henrik. I’m loving it.

“He’s a good friend and when you have good friends, it’s like you might not talk to that friend for months, but it feels like yesterday when you do. Very, very happy to be here with him.”
Stenson is thrilled to reunite with Sunesson once more.
“It’s a certain comfort level to have her on the bag,” he said. “It always is when you’ve got someone you work with for many years, and you know well.
“In particular, she’s a perfectionist. She always wants to make sure that she knows every possible question that might come her way. Preparation is one of the lead words for her.”
