By his own high standards, Max Homa didn’t have the best of seasons on the PGA Tour.

The 33-year-old American made 20 starts on the US-based circuit this year, clocking up only three top-tens and finishing 46th on the FedEx Cup standings.

A call-up to the United States’ Presidents Cup team provides him with the opportunity to end the year on a bit of a high but, in an individual sense, he probably won’t be looking back on 2024 too fondly.

He did, though, do something rather special.

During the third round of the season-opening The Sentry in January, Homa launched a drive on the seventh hole an eye-popping 477 yards.

It was, unsurprisingly, the longest drive recorded on the PGA Tour this year – and, indeed, any year dating back to 2002.

Homa’s effort was seven yards longer than his nearest challenger on the ‘long drive’ front, Cameron Young, and was one of 88 drives of 400 or more yards measured on the tour in 2024.
