MELISSA REID | SOLHEIM CUP

Melissa Reid has earned one of the four automatic qualifying spots for the 2015 Solheim Cup after dislodging Anna Nordqvist with a fifth-placed finish at the Tipsport Masters in the Czech Republic.

Coached by bunkered tuition panel member Kevin Craggs, Reid, 27, will be making her second Team Europe appearance at Golf Club St Leon-Rot in Germany next month, and her qualification is just rewards for an excellent season on the Ladies European Tour.

Reid grabbed her first LET win in almost three years at the Turkish Airlines Ladies Open in May, which she led from start to finish, and drew praise from European captain Carin Koch for her performance in the Czech Republic.

“She knew what she had to do and she went out and did it” – Carin Koch

“I’m very impressed by Melissa’s performance,” said Koch. “She knew what she had to do and she went out and did it. It’s a lot of pressure, knowing that you have to perform and it’s one of the toughest things in golf.”

Coach Craggs also tweeted his delight at Reid’s selection, saying:

Koch added: “It’s great to have four strong and experienced players that have already qualified so I’m really, really excited to see the team shaping up.”
