Unique in that it is known as a ‘Gowf’ club, Loudoun is a parkland gem in the heart of Ayrshire.
The Gowf Field of Loudoun, so called as far back as records are available, was the private golf field of the Campbell family of Loudoun Castle and had been in existence from the early 16th century. As a result, golf – in some form – has reportedly been played on these fields for more than 400 years.
Established as a full 18-hole course set out in 1909, various changes have been made since but it remains a modest layout with the capacity to test even the lowest handicapper, measuring just over 6,000 yards.

The signature hole is the short par-4 12th, called ‘Marsh’, where the fairway is split by a burn that then runs around the side of the green.
The burn is the same one that can be found earlier in the round at the third hole, as it carries along the right side of the hole before slashing across the front of the green.
