Situated in the Morningside area of Edinburgh, new
members can expect a warm welcome and an enjoyable experience at the Merchants
of Edinburgh Golf Club.

Opened in 1907, the course was originally designed by Ben Sayers and remodelled in 1936 by the renowned James Braid. Braid was engaged to redesign four holes for the sum of £5 – money well spent as the new design meant it was no longer necessary for members to climb Wester Craiglockhart Hill twice.

Although not long by modern day standards, it is, nevertheless, a true test of golfing ability, requiring great precision with greens that are the envy of many other clubs.

The clubhouse was rebuilt in 2001 and retains much of its original character.

It provides first class facilities, a warm welcome to members and visitors alike and stunning views towards The Pentland Hills.

With a unique course layout, it’s possible to play just three, six, nine or a full 18 holes. The only deciding factor is how much time you have. Whether you want to play for 30 minutes, an hour or a longer, Merchants of Edinburgh can accommodate you.
