Jake Knapp will return to defend his Mexico Open at VidantaWorld title in 2025.

The American former bouncer with the languid swing scooped his first PGA Tour crown last year, edging out Finland’s Sami Valimaki by two shots in Mexico’s national championship.

This year, the prize fund has been reduced from $8.1million to $7m and is played after the Genesis Invitational at Torrey Pines, one of the Signature Events on the US circuit.

Many of the game’s biggest names will take a break after the $20m showpiece in San Diego, but that gives a chance for players of Knapp’s ilk to seal a breakthrough victory, with 500 FedEx Cup points up for grabs for the champion.

The other previous winners of this event are Tony Finau and Jon Rahm.

Patrick Rodgers 25/1

Could it finally be his week? Patrick Rodgers will surely fancy it. The decorated amateur is still searching for his PGA Tour win and came within three at the Genesis Invitational on Sunday. He finished T6 in this event last year and will back himself in a field lacking star power.
