Netflix has confirmed the news we all wanted to hear about Happy Gilmore 2.

Shooter McGavin – and Virginia Venit – will reprise their roles as Gilmore’s rival and girlfriend in the upcoming sequel.

A post on X, read: “Shooter McGavin and Virginia Venit, please report to the green.

“Julie Bowen and Christopher McDonald will return in Happy Gilmore 2!”

McGavin was expected to return as the villainous pro golfer after Adam Sandler teased fans on Instagram with the news that filming had started.

Sandler accompanied a picture of Gilmore’s signature Boston Bruins jersey with one of his famous quips to shooter.

“It ain’t over,” he wrote. “The way I see it… we’ve only just begun.”

Joining the classic trio in the movie will also be Puerto Rican singer ‘Bad Bunny’.

On Tuesday, Netflix also announced that Benito Martínez Ocasio will star in Happy Gilmore 2, although it’s unclear what the 30-year-old’s role will be.

Meanwhile, NFL star – and Taylor Swift’s boyfriend – Travis Kelce will make a cameo in the movie.

Sandler announced that on The Tonight Show starring Jimmy Fallon last month.

“He’s gonna come by,” Sandler said. “He’s a very nice guy. You guys would love him in real life. What a big, handsome guy. Funny and cool as hell.”

In the same talk show appearance, the American added: “We worked hard on the script. We didn’t want to let anybody down.

“People have been asking me for a long time. We’re really excited about it; we wrote our asses off. So many of the golfers are being nice and will be a part of it.”

A few professional golfers are expected to feature in the sequel and whilst we don’t have details on the plot, Sandler previously hinted that Happy will join a senior tour.

Original director Dennis Dugan isn’t directing Happy Gilmore 2 which, instead, will be a Netflix co-production.
