US President Donald Trump’s organisation has been given the green light for a new $1.5 billion golf resort.

While Trump Golf already boasts some of the world’s most iconic championship courses, it will break ground in an entirely new area.

Currently, the 78-year-old owns resorts in Scotland, Ireland, the US, the UAE, and is on track to open new properties in Indonesia and Oman.

But now, Trump will take his business to Vietnam.

As reported by Reuters, the country’s Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh held a groundbreaking ceremony with Trump’s son Eric today for a luxury residential development.

Whilst negotiations took place over tariffs with Washington last week, the Communist authorities in Vietnam approved the project.

It will home three 18-hole golf courses, located just outside of Hanoi, the Northern capital city, and the process was expedited after a visit from Eric Trump.

Chinh said that “motivated us to expedite this project,” as he urged local authorities to provide maximum support and facilitate the completion of the 990-hectare resort.

The investment, in partnership with Vietnamese developer Kinhbac City, will also include a luxury residential complex, becoming the Trump Organisation’s largest development in East Asia.

Reports from Vietnamese media suggest the project will break ground this year, while the first two golf courses are expected to be open for play by mid-2027.

Eric Trump, senior vice president of the Trump Organisation, promised to visit the country “very often” and claims the project will be “the envy of all of Asia and of the entire world”.

A statement from the consortium in October revealed that it will “focus on developing 5-star hotels, championship-style golf courses, and luxurious residential estates and unparalleled amenities in Vietnam”.
