FootJoy unveils striking new designs for increasingly popular line

FootJoy, the No.1 shoe and glove in golf, has injected a splash of colour and expanded its innovative XPS-1 range to provide more choice to the growing numbers of golfers wanting to take advantage of its pioneering Xtreme Platform Stability technology.

The two new colour additions; white/black/blue and white/black/red will sit alongside the white/black/silver version that was launched in October 2011 to much acclaim.

Currently enjoying increased usage on both the European and PGA Tour, due to its unrivalled ability to enhance platform stability and improve balance, the XPS-1 is born from golfer feedback at all levels.

As a result it is now used in competition by major champions, Padraig Harrington (pictured), Geoff Ogilvy and Ben Curtis, world No.5 and Ryder Cup star Steve Stricker, and one of the game’s longest-hitters Gary Woodland.

Woodland boasts a ball speed in excess of 200 miles per hour and is big advocate of the product. He said: “XPS-1 is the most stable golf shoe I have ever worn in my life. Having proper footwear is critical to the game of golf. For me, balance is everything. With XPS-1, I can get explosive and fire off my right side.”

Russell Lawes, FootJoy’s European marketing manager has been encouraged by the positive response from golfers towards XPS-1.

He said: “After a successful launch at the end of last year, our newest innovation has firmly established itself on golf’s professional tours, sitting perfectly alongside our other flagship models, FJ Icon, DryJoys Tour and FJ Sport to spearhead our most complete footwear range to date.

“We are regarded as the leader in high-performance footwear and that brings an expectation from consumers for us to be continually expanding and improving our offering with new colours and styles.”

XPS-1 has introduced a unique and fresh look to the FootJoy line of performance golf shoes. In addition to bold, athletic-inspired styling, XPS-1 utilises an innovative Xtreme Outsole design which features TPU lateral side outriggers that extend beyond the upper to deliver an ultra-wide platform under foot for maximum ground contact.

An additional Lightweight Fibreglass Support Structure provides a medial and lateral wrap for total mid-foot support whilst a new HeelLoc Zone provides Anti-slip technology in the heel area. All of these attributes contribute to making XPS-1 the most stable golf shoe on the planet.

Utilising striking patterns with accents of colour, XPS-1 fuses proven performance attributes with premium materials such as the finest full-grain leather uppers. While the XtremeOutsole design in XPS-1 may be new to FootJoy, the technology, materials and Tour-Proven features stem from a long heritage of producing the No.1 shoe in golf.

Whether it is the all-round excellence of the all new FJ icon, the unrivalled stability of the XPS-1, or the reliable and consistent performance of DryJoys Tour, FootJoy remains the overwhelming favourite for golfers of all abilities around the world.

The FootJoy XPS-1 has suggested retail price of £195.
