After more than 18 years of service at Carnoustie, former assistant superintendent, Paul O’Connor, has been appointed links superintendent for Trump International Golf Links.

O’Connor forms part of the golf course construction team on the Menie Estate and will be responsible for the maintenance and management of the completed course.

Delighted at being presented with this new challenge, former Elmwood College student O’Connor said: “I enjoyed 18 years at Carnoustie and understand the high standards required of a leading championship course.

“I am extremely proud to be involved in the construction and development of what will be the finest links course ever built – it is a privilege to work for Mr Trump on this spectacular terrain.”

During his time at Carnoustie, O’Connor was integral in overseeing the restoration of the course and played a vital role in the success of the playing surfaces during the 2007 Open Championship.

“Paul is highly respected and is known to be one of the best in his field. He is a very important addition to my team,” said Donald Trump, who will be working closely with O’Connor during the ongoing development stage.
