Rory McIlroy has only just won the Masters, but the golf world is already looking ahead.
So short is the game’s major season that attention has immediately turned to the three remaining marquee events of the men’s calendar – and what McIlroy might win next.
The 35-year-old’s triumph at Augusta National ended 11 years of hurt in the ‘big four’ and became only the sixth player to complete the career grand slam.
It has, however, begged one question: will the floodgates now open?

Ahead of the final round, Butch Harmon – who has worked with McIlroy on his road to immortality – made his feelings on that clear. Very clear, in fact.
He said on Sky Sports: “If he wins, this is going to change Rory,” Harmon predicted. “He is going to take off and win major after major after major.
“This is a huge day for him and it’s a huge day for golf.”
Harmon is on board, and so are the bookmakers. Odds on McIlroy to win more majors in 2025 have been confirmed, courtesy of Betway.
According to the firm, the Northern Irishman is a mere 6/4 to win two or more majors in the calendar year, following his Masters success.
He’s priced at 16/1 to win three or more, and a huge 40/1 to land all four major championships.

Betway currently has McIlroy as the joint 9/2 favourite – alongside Scottie Scheffler – to win the PGA Championship next month, and joint 5/1 fav for the US Open.
And he’s into solo favouritism for The Open in July, which will take place on home soil at Royal Portrush.
Meanwhile, McIlroy has been well-backed to be crowned BBC’s Sports Personality of the Year. He was priced as big as 16/1 pre-Masters and 3/1 before the final round but is now available at 8/13.
For McIlroy, the overriding emotion of winning the first major of the year was relief.
“It was all relief,” he said. “There wasn’t much joy in that reaction. It was all relief.
“And then, you know, the joy came pretty soon after that. But that was — I’ve been coming here 17 years, and it was a decade-plus of emotion that came out of me there.”
