The Women’s Olympic Golf competition suddenly has a lot to live up to.

Last week’s thrilling finish in the men’s event at Le Paris National turned many doubters into believers in golf as an Olympic sport.

On Sunday, it was the world’s best male player Scottie Scheffler who surged to gold with a course record-equalling 62 on Sunday.

Now, the best player in the women’s game, Nelly Korda, will get her chance to defend the title she won in Tokyo three years ago.

60 of the best players in the world will tee it up on Wednesday chasing a medal and a sporting legacy that has an entirely different meaning to a traditional tour event.

Korda and fellow two-time major champ Lilia Vu are the favourites and lead the way for the United States, while Team GB is represented by best friends Charley Hull and Georgia Hall.

Women’s Olympics Golf betting tips

Here’s who the bookies fancy to shine this week…

Nelly Korda 5/1

Lilia Vu 9/1

Atthaya Thitikul 10/1

Jin Young Ko 11/1

Brooke Henderson 14/1

Linn Grant 16/1

The bunkered bet

Rose Zhang 18/1

There are short odds on the Gold medal going to the United States again in the Women’s Competition, but we fancy Zhang to defeat her compatriots Korda and Vu to the top of the podium. The 21-year-old is in fine form after a victory in May and a T6 in her last outing before pitching up in Paris. Unlike many of her competitors, Zhang also has experience at Golf National having won the 2022 Amateur Team Championship there in 2022.
