Alfred Dunhill Links Championship

It comes as no surprise now to see former world number one Jon Rahm in the field, when the DP World Tour heads to Spain.

The Spaniard is off to Madrid in search of his fourth Spanish Open title, a clear indication of his comfort on home soil.

While the event has changed names over the years, it dates all the way back to 1912 and has been a stop on tour since its inception in 1972.

Over a short course in ideal conditions, players can be expected to go low, and Rahm proved that hitting 25 and 22-under-par in previous triumphs.

It’s the first of a two-week hiatus in Spain as players complete final preparations ahead of the season-ending DP World Tour Championship.

The bunkered bet

Adri Arnaus 55/1

The Spaniard was an unlucky loser in 2021, missing out on a home win to fellow countryman Rafa Cabrera-Bello in a play-off. Arenas raised his game to reach nineteen-under-par that week and has the game to take advantage of good scoring conditions. He’s been far from his best this season, but showed signs of a resurgence in Scotland last week.
