North East facilities ravaged by Storm Frank

• Paul Lawrie Golf Centre closed until further notice
• Facilities have received significant damage after Storm Frank
• Neighbouring Deeside also under ‘highest’ levels of water

The Paul Lawrie Golf Centre is to be closed until further notice after high winds and flooding wreaked havoc at the North East’s leading golf centre.

Owned by the 1999 Open champion, with attached players including Lawrie’s two sons Craig and Michael, Challenge Tour player David Law and Ross Kellett, the centre, which is on the south bank of the River Dee, incurred some severe damage during Storm Frank which resulted in its closure.

“All facilities will be closed until further notice” – Paul Lawrie Golf Centre statement

“Due to the recent flooding, unfortunately the golf centre and all facilities will be closed until further notice,” a statement on the centre’s Facebook page read.

“Regrettably the extreme weather has caused extensive damage to the golf centre, main building and driving range. The priority now is to work as quickly as possible to reopen the centre.

“In the meantime, we appreciate your patience and understanding while the repair work gets underway. To keep you posted on our progress, we will provide updates through social media channels. Thank you for your support.”

Neighbouring Deeside Golf Club, which is located on the north bank of the River Dee, is also currently under water with levels being described as ‘the highest they’ve seen it’.
