The PGA Championship is here and, with it, the tantalising prospect of more major championship history at Quail Hollow.

Now that Rory McIlroy has a Green Jacket – and completed the career grand slam – all eyes turn to Jordan Spieth, who can join the club this week.

Only six players in the annals of the game have won each of the four major championships in the modern era, with this the last piece of Spieth’s major puzzle.

Of course, this year’s edition is being held at the famed country club in North Carolina, where McIlroy is twice a winner on the PGA Tour.

It hosted the 2017 PGA Championship, when Justi Thomas defeated Louis Oosthuizen, Patrick Reed and Francesco Molinari by two shots.

He returns for another bid at the Wanamaker trophy, while fellow American Bryson DeChambeau headlines the contingent of LIV Golf players.

A total of 15 players from the Saudi-backed circuit are in action, including several past champions and major winners.

The bunkered Bet

Justin Thomas 16/1

Past winners have a good record in this championship, and Thomas can lift his third Wanamaker this week. He, of course, triumphed on the tournament’s last visit here, and secured a long-awaited 16th PGA Tour win last month. Thomas rallied to finish second at last week’s Truist Championship, confirming he is one of the most in-form players at Quail Hollow.
