The PGA Tour is returning to Philadelphia.

While Quail Hollow hosts the 2025 PGA Championship, the Wells Fargo Championship will temporarily move venue.

The signature event – one of eight on the Tour’s schedule – is set to be played at The Philadelphia Cricket Club before returning to Charlotte in 2026.

Quail Hollow Club will continue to be the primary venue for the event, but the Wissahickon Course in Philadelphia will play host from May 5-11 next year.

Tickets will go on sale towards the end of the year and will be available through the event’s new title sponsor.

The PGA Tour has announced a seven-year agreement with an American bank holding company headquartered in Charlotte, North Carolina.

Commissioner Jay Monahan was on hand to deliver the news that it will be renamed the Truist Championship and hold its status as a signature event through the agreement.

As well as a bumper prize purse, 700 FedEx Cup points will go the way of the winner.

“We are honored to be the title sponsor of the PGA Tour’s Charlotte-based Signature Event and thrilled that Philadelphia and Charlotte, two vibrant growth markets for Truist, will be featured on the PGA Tour,” said Truist Chairman and CEO Bill Rogers.

“We look forward to partnering with the PGA Tour to elevate this wonderful championship event and Truist’s deep community impact, and to further fulfill our purpose to inspire and build better lives and communities.”

Monahan said: “We are delighted to welcome Truist to the PGA Tour family as the new title sponsor of the Truist Championship, a Signature Event that has continued to grow in size and stature since its introduction to the golf calendar more than two decades ago.

“Starting in year one at The Philadelphia Cricket Club followed by an extended run at the Quail Hollow Club, the Truist Championship will be a best-in-class experience for fans thanks to the support of a hometown title sponsor that holds a vested interest in positively impacting its local communities.”

It’ll be the third time that the championship has moved location in its 21-year history.

In 2017, the tournament was held on the coast in Wilmington at Eagle Point Golf Club, as Quail Hollow hosted the PGA Championship in mid-August.

Then, in 2022, it was held near Washington, D.C. at TPC Potomac at Avenel Farm in Potomac, Maryland, as Quail Hollow hosted the Presidents Cup in late September.

Meanwhile, the Wissahickon Course at The Philadelphia Cricket Club has hosted several premier national and regional events, including the 2016 Senior Players Championship.
