A number of PGA Tour events will have new names next year.

With several sponsorship deals expiring – most notably RBC’s long-term contracts at both the Heritage and Canadian Open, as well as Wells Fargo at Quail Hollow – the powers that be in Ponte Vedra Beach are scrambling to sell naming rights for some of the circuit’s biggest events.

This year saw Cognizant, a technology solutions company, take over from Honda, the automobile giant which had put its name to the Tour’s Classic event at PGA National.

And while Truist Bank is rumoured to be taking over from Wells Fargo for the popular Charlotte tournament, one company has agreed to put pen to paper with the PGA Tour.

According to Josh Carpenter of the Sports Business Journal, Procore Technologies has agreed to take over from Fortinet as the title sponsorship of the PGA Tour Fall Series event at Silverado.

Fortinet, Carpenter writes, elected not to renew “as the company faced headwinds in the cybersecurity industry”.

Since its inauguration in 2007, the Napa Valley tournament, which has been won by the likes of Mike Weir, Rocco Mediate, Stewart Cink and Max Homa, has been also been sponsored by Fry’s Electronics and Safeway.

The 2024 Procore Championship will kick off the PGA Tour’s off-season schedule on September 12 over Silverado’s North Course, where Sahith Theegala will defend his title.
