PGA Tour veteran and multiple winner Lucas Glover has claimed he doesn’t want LIV golfers to return to the American circuit.

Two years ago, the rival factions penned a ‘Framework Agreement’ to reunify the men’s professional game, but the sides are yet to make up.

And Glover, 45, insists the breakaway LIV stars shouldn’t be allowed to simply walk back in and ‘take part of his pie’.

“I don’t want to play with them, me personally,” he said on his SiriusXM PGA Tour radio show on Tuesday. “I don’t think they should be back here. I don’t want them here. They made their decision.

“I don’t blame any of them. They made a decision, I don’t care, but they also went away from this tour and chose to.

“As a PGA Tour player and somebody that dreamed of playing on the PGA Tour and have poured my heart and soul into this Tour and game for 21 seasons now, I don’t want somebody that chose another path and a path of least, or, less resistance.

“I don’t want them back here competing and taking part of my pie and these kids’ pie that are trying to make it now.”

Glover, currently ranked 31st in the FedEx Cup standings, has six Tour wins to his name, including the 2009 US Open.

He concedes that having the likes of Jon Rahm and Bryson DeChambeau back would help TV deals. But that shouldn’t sway the powers that be.

“It would benefit all of us because our TV deal in 2030 would be great,” he said.

“[But] does it behoove us as tour members, who have equity now, to grow our sport by bringing some of those guys back? I’m having a hard time with it.”

Of course, Glover is no stranger to making his feelings clear. Speaking to Golf Channel at this week’s John Deere Classic, he also took aim at his own Tour.

The American doubled down on his criticisms of the ‘short-sighted’ circuit.

“I think everybody should have a voice and I think everybody should be taken into account when decisions are made,” Glover said.

“And limiting access is not a way to grow the talent coming into the PGA Tour in my opinion and making fields smaller doesn’t increase competition.

“That’s impossible. It doesn’t make any sense. We’re the only sports organisation that’s saying that less players means more competition and that’s been my soap box.

“Every other sport has widened the fields, broadened their playoffs. More games, more teams, expanding, yet we are using pace of play as a crutch to say we need less players and I just don’t agree with that.”

Glover continued: “I think that’s short-sighted and honestly not the right way to go about it.

“We’re trying to grow the game and create opportunities for young players to be the next superstars [and] for consistent older players to have a place to play.

“Limiting that is not the way to do that in my opinion.”
