• ‘I honestly believe these next few years will be the best of my career.’
Five-time major winner Phil Mickelson has put pen to paper on a multi-year contract extension with Callaway Golf.
The left-hander originally signed with the company just months after winning the 2004 Masters and, in the time since, has won four more majors and become the second highest earning player in the history of the PGA Tour.
“When I joined the team at Callaway ten years ago, I knew I was making the best decision of my career,” said the 44-year-old. “I feel even stronger about that decision today. Backed by innovative technologies, industry-leading products, and the outstanding R&D group that works so closely with me, I honestly believe that these next few years will be the best of my career.”
As well as five majors, Mickelson has also won 42 times on the PGA Tour wins and spent 700 weeks inside the top ten of the Official World Golf Rankings. He has played on ten Ryder Cup teams – stretching back to 1995 – and another ten Presidents Cup sides, and was inducted into the World Golf Hall of Fame in 2012.
“We are thrilled to extend our partnership with Phil Mickelson.” Chip Brewer, Callaway Golf President & CEO
He also holds the dubious distinction of having spent more time at No.2 on the world rankings than any other player without reaching the top spot and, all the more impressively, has made 80 cuts in 89 major starts.
The exact terms of his contract extension have not been released but he will continue to play Callaway clubs, a Callaway ball and carry a Callaway staff bag.
“We are thrilled to extend our partnership with Phil,” said Callaway Golf President & CEO Chip Brewer. “He has meant so much to Callaway and he continues to inspire us to develop the most innovative equipment in golf.”
