• Cameras clicked at the top of his swing prompting reaction
• "That's so shitty to do that," the American was heard saying
PHIL MICKELSON | THE OPEN
Phil Mickelson lost it with a group of photographers on the 18th hole after being distracted by their cameras clicking during his swing.
The American had just fallen behind to Henrik Stenson after the Swede’s birdie and his bogey on the 17th and with the stakes running high, Mickelson planted his second shot in the greenside bunker.
“That’s so shitty to do that,” Phil Mickelson was caught on TV saying. “I can’t believe that. I get you’ve got to cover it, but why do you have to interfere with it?”
Mickelson ended up getting up and down from the bunker for par, but will head into the final round trailing Stenson by one stroke after the Swede’s fine three-under-par 68 – which matched the best of the day alongside Steve Stricker, Brandt Snedeker and Haydn Porteous.
And, despite shooting a one-under-par 70, Mickelson was concerned by some of his play during the round and is keen to eradicate some of his failings heading into tomorrow's showdown.
"I was off today," conceded Phil Mickelson. "I didn't have my best stuff. My rhythm was a little quick from the top as we started downwind. I was a little bit jumpy and my rhythm wasn't very good today. I found a way to kind of settle in and hit some shots and then find ways to make pars on the times that I hit some poor shots.
"Today could have been a day that got away from me, instead I shot under par and kept myself right in heading into tomorrow's final round, so I'm proud of that. Andrew Getson and I have some work to do to get my swing back to where it was the first couple days, and it shouldn't be too far off. I'd love to play tomorrow's final round the way I did the first two and give myself a shot.
