Phil Mickelson will not relent on his apparent quest to hold golf’s establishment “accountable” on social media.

LIV Golf’s leading renegade Mickelson has used his vast social media platform to slam the PGA Tour, the United States Golf Association (USGA) and the Official World Golf Ranking (OWGR) board in recent months.

He claimed the USGA deliberately moved the goalposts after a tweak in their exemption criteria meant fellow LIV player Talor Gooch is ineligible for the US Open next month.

Mickelson continues to insist that the OWGR board members are not doing their job in ranking the best players in the world by failing to offer accreditation to the fledgling LIV series.

He has not made waves this week at the PGA Championship, reaching his 100th major cut at Oak Hill.

But the 52-year-old will continue to sound off on matters of contention during golf’s ongoing schism.

“I guess it’s because I know some things that others don’t,” Mickelson said when asked why he continues to criticise the sport’s authorities, per ESPN. “I just want to make sure everybody’s held accountable.”

The six-time major winner also weighed in on the prospect of LIV players like Brooks Koepka making Zach Johnson’s US Ryder Cup team this September in Rome.

Johnson claims any talk of LIV players making his team at this stage is “irresponsible”, but Mickelson thinks the tour on which a player resides should be irrelevant when deciding the six captain’s picks.

“I don’t see the benefit of the Ryder Cup to change from what it has historically been, which is the U.S. – well, it used to be Great Britain and Ireland versus Europe,” he said.

“I don’t see the benefit of changing that. I don’t see how it’s any concern of the PGA of America what tour we play.”
