Former Chelsea and England defender John Terry has apologised after having a howler on a recent golf trip.
Terry, 43, was enjoying a round at the exclusive Hogs Head Golf Club in Ireland last week, when he got into some bother.
On the final hole of his £315 round, Terry earned a jeer from his pals, as his tee shot went well off line.
While Terry avoided slipping on the tee, he managed to smash a roof slate tile on a building next to the fairway of the 636-yard par five.
In a video posted on the ex-footballers Instagram, the group was heard shouting: “Woah. It’s hit the roof.
“It’s come back on, it’s on the roof.”

Afterwards, Terry apologised to Brady Sherwood, the director of the Waterville course.
“What a great trip, lots of laughs, some good golf, great wine and far too many whiskeys,” Terry wrote. “Sorry Brady for the roof tile.”
At least Sherwood saw the funny side and handed Terry the memento for his trophy cabinet.

“Dear John, an expensive way of playing marbles!” he penned on the tile.
Lucky for the marble, it’s found itself a new home next to one of Terry’s FA Cup and Premier League trophies.
Terry flew out with his group on a private VistaJet plane, accompanied by luxury wines, whiskeys and cigars.

Since retiring from football, Terry has been able to fulfill his dream of becoming a scratch golfer.
In 2022, he posted on X (formerly Twitter): “When I retired, I set myself a target to get down to scratch and today I achieved it.
“Not the most exciting post but one I’m personally pleased with.”
Terry teed it up in last year’s BMW PGA Championship Pro-Am at Wentworth.
