Jim Furyk has appointed a new captain’s assistant as Keegan Bradley’s replacement.
Bradley was named one of four men to assist the Presidents Cup boss later this month, but an upturn in form earned him a playing role at Royal Montreal.
Instead, Brandt Snedeker will join Furyk’s backroom team before serving as a vice captain under Bradley at next year’s Ryder Cup.
Snedeker, 43, played in the 2013 Presidents Cup, winning two of his five matches, while losing the other three.
“I was honored to get the call from Jim and thrilled to accept this role as one of his captain’s assistants for the Presidents Cup,” Snedeker said in a statement.
“He’s someone I’ve looked up to throughout my career and I know will be a strong leader for the U.S. Team at Royal Montreal.

“My goal is to add a trusted voice to our players throughout the week and do everything I can to help us pull out the win.”
The nine-time PGA Tour winner also competed in two Ryder Cups. He tasted defeat at Medinah in 2012 before winning at Hazeltine in 2016.
“I enjoyed competing together with Brandt at the 2012 Ryder Cup at Medinah,” Furyk said.
“He is a fierce competitor, great teammate and one of the most respected players on the PGA Tour.
“He will provide a steady voice in the team room, and I will rely on him for insight and advice as we lead our 12 players into Montreal at the end of the month.”
Furyk named Bradley, Sam Burns, Tony Finau, Brian Harman, Russell Henley and Max Homa as his six captain’s picks for the match against the international team.

More interest was placed on who the 54-year-old would select as his assistants, and if Tiger Woods was one of them.
In a Q&A with Golfweek last month, he said he’ll “reach out to Tiger”.
“I think we all kind of expected that he was going to be named Ryder Cup captain,” Furyk added.
“I know he’s got his plate full with the PGA Tour and working on our board, which seems to be a lot of work at the moment.
“So I’ll reach out, say ‘hello’. I know he’s got some great strategy. He’s got some great stuff with pairings, but as of yet I haven’t reached out.”
Furyk can still name one more captain’s assistant, although there are only two weeks until the contest kicks off.
