LIV Golf is reportedly on the hunt for a new CEO and commissioner.

Greg Norman has held the role since the league – which is financed by Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund – was founded in 2021, a year before its inaugural season.

But, as golf descended into its so-called civil war, Norman was widely criticised for the way he handled matters, with the likes of Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy among those to say that the PGA Tour and LIV Golf could never find peace as long as the Australian was involved in negotiations.

Now, according to Sports Business Journal‘s Josh Carpenter, the search to replace Norman at the helm of the breakaway league has been ongoing for several months and is being carried out by London-based recruitment firm Odgers Berndtson.

Carpenter says LIV is targeting top executives, with Brett Yormark – the commissioner of athletic organisation Big 12 Conference – among those on the list, though his sources say talks “did not progress”.

LIV has made a number of executive hires in recent weeks. In September, team managers were appointed for Legion XIII, Ripper GC, Cleeks GC, Stinger GC and Iron Heads GC to take charge of daily operations, sponsorships, marketing and player relations. And more recently, Ilana Finley left Nike to join LIV as its now chief communications officer.

Whether Norman will remain with LIV Golf is, according to Carpenter, “unclear”, though he is expected to take up a different role in the league’s senior team.

LIV Golf has so far announced the four tournaments that will kick off its 2025 season, including returns to Hong Kong, Adelaide and Singapore, as well as a new venue in Saudi Arabia.
