Rickie Fowler & co touch down in Rio

The wait is almost over. The Olympic Games starts today in Rio de Janeiro, with the Olympic Men’s Golf Tournament teeing off on Thursday and the Women’s a week later.

Since the Open Championship, which featured Jordan Spieth’s high-profile withdrawal, Rory McIlroy’s scathing put-down and Rickie Fowler confirming he was ‘all-in’, it’s all been quiet on the Olympic front – and that’s not a bad thing.

And now, as the athletes begin to touch down in Rio de Janeiro, there is a real sense of excitement among them as they prepare to represent their countries in golf’s return to the Olympic scene for the first time in more than a century.
