Robert MacIntyre has taken a swing at what his right-handed golf handicap would be.
The Oban man first sparked the debate on the range at the Genesis Scottish Open in July, posting a swing video using his opposite hand.
“What’s all the fuss about,” he wrote on X. Of course, it was met with an outpour of replies like: “Better than my swing and I’m a righty.”
While his action might need a bit of work, there’s a solid chance he’d still beat most club golfers.
Between shots at the Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship, MacIntyre was pressed by Sky Sports’ Tim Barter to give an estimate.
And MacIntyre reckons his putter would save him a few strokes.
“I don’t know, I could play. I’d be under 18, I think,” he said.

“It’s just the finer touches, I feel like I’ve almost got a better putting stroke right-handed than I do left-handed.
“I know I’m a good putter, but it just feels good in the hands. No, I reckon I could give it a decent effort.”
Fans of the Scot will remember his right-handed effort at Royal Troon in July.
It will be one MacIntyre would want to forget, however, producing a good old-fashioned shank on the famous par-4 finale.
But it’s not the first time he’s tried it. Ahead of his Players Championship debut in 2021, MacIntyre got comfortable with TPC Sawgrass in unorthodox fashion.

After breaking into the world’s top 50, he nailed a seemingly impossible trick shot on the island green.
“I caught it a bit thin,” he said afterwards. “It was going a bit too fast, but the pin was there to help us!
“Just holding it on the green is a great shot from there, but you try and hole it and now and again you get lucky. I’ve never hit that shot in my life.”

Meanwhile, MacIntyre also opened up on his ‘incredible’ experience at Murrayfield last week, carrying out the match ball for Scotland vs Fiji.
“Yeah, it was [extraordinary],” he said. “A bit more nerve-wracking than normal, being outside your comfort zone.
“But when I got the opportunity with the Scottish Open win and MND on the bag for Doddie [Weir], it’s one of them where I thought, I have got to do this’.
“It was an incredible experience and the reception I got when I walked on there and put on Doddie’s hat was very special.”
