Robert MacIntyre draws tough group at WGC Match Play

Robert Mac Intyre

Robert MacIntyre will have to conquer a 'Group of Death' to advance to the knock-out stages of the WGC-Dell Technologies Match Play.

The 25-year-old Scot has been drawn alongside reigning Open champion Collin Morikawa, former Masters winner and the Ryder Cup's all-time leading points-scorer Sergio Garcia, and three-time PGA Tour winner Jason Kokrak in the round-robin stages of this week's tournament, taking place at the Austin Country Club in Texas.

MacIntyre qualified for the WGC-Dell Technologies Match Play courtesy of his position on the OWGR when players ranked above him withdrew from the event.

He goes into the championship, however, with happy memories of last year where he knocked out the then world No.1 Dustin Johnson, as well as Kevin Na and Adam Long in the group stages, before falling to Victor Perez in the Round of 16.

This week starts a three-week stint in the States for MacIntyre. He goes to the Valero Texas Open before making his second Masters Tournament appearance the week after.
