Robert MacIntyre has been nominated for two awards at the Scottish Sports Awards 2024.

It means the Scot’s year could get even better, after winning twice on tour, including on home soil.

MacIntyre, 28, is in the running for Male Athlete of the Year and Moment of the Year on December 4.

Hosted by sportscotland and Team Scotland, the awards recognise MacIntyre’s rise into the world’s top 20 and his RBC Canadian Open win.

His dad Dougie was on caddie duties for the maiden PGA Tour win before he landed the Genesis Scottish Open title a few weeks later.

“I don’t think I’ll be in a fit state to get to Troon,” he said of the celebrations afterwards.

“How do I come down from this? I don’t think I will. I think I’m just going to try to ride the wave.

“The Open means a lot to me, but you’ve got to celebrate the good times because it doesn’t happen a lot and this is the one I said I wanted.”

The party could yet roll on, although, MacIntyre will have to fend off some of Scotland’s biggest athletes.

His rivals for the Male Athlete of the Year are cyclist Jack Carling and swimmer Duncan Scott.

However, MacIntyre will have none other than golf enthusiast Andy Murray for Moment of the year company.

Murray’s Olympics doubles comeback in Paris this summer earned the Dunblane star recognition, while showjumping gold medallist is also in the running.

Glasgow Warriors, for their BKT United Rugby Championship success, and Jasmin Paris, for completing the 100-mile Barkley Marathons, bolster the line up.

It also includes Ben Sandilands’ world-record breaking run to win Paralympic 1500m gold Josh Kerr’s gold at the World Indoor Championships in Glasgow and Gordon Reid for winning Paralympics wheelchair tennis gold with Alfie Hewett.

You can cast your vote for MacIntyre until November 4 at 5pm by clicking here.
